Killiney Hill is located just above Killiney village and is just a 15-minute drive from the Beacon Hotel. Killiney Hill and Dalkey Hill form part of Killiney Hill Park and is the perfect place to enjoy a scenic walk and take in the beautiful Dublin Bay view. On your walk you will take in beautiful forests and at the top of the hill you will see views of Dublin, the Irish Sea, Bray, the Wicklow Mountains and on a clear day you can even see the mountains of Wales.
Along the walk you will see the Obelisk which was constructed in 1742 to commemorate the famine and was an initiative to provide work the starving population. Close by the Obelisk is the Pyramid, built in 1852 by Robert Warren, who was the owner of the estate at that time. Legend says a wish comes true when you circle all levels of the pyramid, climb to the top and look towards St Begnet’s Oratory on Dalkey Island, expressing your wish. This of course cannot be confirmed but is worth a try while on your walk!
Killiney Hill is the perfect place to visit on your break at the Beacon Hotel, if you want to get out in the fresh air and take the fantastic scenery on offer. Click below to book your stay at the Beacon Hotel.
