15th of March - Events

10am - Where we Live - Made in Dublin 

Venue: The complex, 15 Little Green St, Smithfield, Dublin 7 

About the event: This is an installation in sound and vision played out with a group of people caught up in a time and place that is Dublin. It is a series of short stories played out to give the visitor the idea of what life is like in Dublin. 

15th March - The Greening of the City - 5pm 

Venue: Iconic buildings across Dublin

As the world has got in on the act St Patricks Day sees global green brought to a whole new level, Dublin is at the heart of it all. Take a stroll through  the streets of Dublin until you happen upon some iconic landmarks, The Spire in Dublin, Leinster House, Government Buildings, Dublin Castle Lower Court Yard, The Four Courts, Custom House, The National Concert Hall and many more. 

 16th of March - Town Hall Sessions  - 6.30pm

Venue: The complex, 15 Little Green St, Smithfield, Dublin 7

 Sit in on a series of talks on nightlife, technology, identity, gentrification  and politics. The imagination and the desires that shape Dublin city.  

17th of March - St. Patricks Day Parade

The Parade traditionally starts at 12.00 noon in Dublin City Centre. You can catch a glimpse of the Parade as it makes it way down O'Connell Street, past Trinity College and College Green and then onto Dame Street before it finishes at St. Patricks Cathedral. You can get the LUAS from Kilmacud a short walk from The Beacon Hotel, get off at Grafton  Street, walk down Grafton Street and meet the parade at Trinity College. The Parade usually lasts 2 hours.    

17th of March - City at Play 

Venue:  Merrion Square on the 17th - 19th of March from 11am

An afternoon of fun for young and old, whether its a ride on the waltzer or a stick of candyfloss, the fun of the weekend can be captured in Merrion Square with ice cream and candy and fun and games for all the family. 

Dublin and Ireland lead the Global Greening, with many landmarks illuminated in Green for the duration of the festival. Merrion Square, Grafton Street and the parade itself through O’Connell Street are events not to be missed, with traditional Irish music, dancing and not forgetting a pint of the black stuff to ensure you have really experienced a genuine St Patricks Day.
